Where to go for St Patrick’s Day

Still wondering where to go for St Patrick’s Day?

Whether you’re planning on getting some pals together or going on a solo adventure, choosing the right location for your St Paddy’s Day celebration can enhance your experience and help you create the best memories.

Where to go on St Patrick’s Day

Offering everything from impressive parades and Irish bars to live music and guest speakers, we list some of the top locations to spend St Patrick’s Day from across the world.

Of course, Dublin takes one of our five favourite Paddy’s Day spots, but where else makes the list  and what makes them so special? Let’s find out!

Manchester, UK

While Manchester might not be the first city that springs to mind when you think of St Patrick’s Day, its rich cultural history has encouraged the city to hold a big and bold Paddy’s Day parade every year, with 2025 set to be their 36th parade.

Departing from the city’s Irish World Heritage Centre, the gloriously green parade goes on for over two miles and is packed with food, floats, and music! After the parade, there’s plenty of vibrant Irish bars and eateries to refuel at – including a Bierkeller bar.

Dublin, Ireland

How could we not include Dublin? The capital of the Republic of Ireland, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a place that celebrates St Patrick’s Day as energetically as this warm and welcoming city. Dubbed by Ireland.com as being “as intimate as a village and as friendly as an Irish pub”, Dublin is home to Ireland’s world-famous St Patrick’s Day Parade.

Featuring marching bands, pageants, and a diverse range of communities, the parade runs alongside a programme of city-centre events, celebrating Irishness in all its forms.

Liverpool, UK

Another UK location that always impresses on St Patrick’s Day is Liverpool. For a more peaceful and religious Paddy’s Day, head to Liverpool Cathedral. As Britain’s biggest cathedral, it’s one of the city’s most unmissable attractions all year-round.

Liverpool also has a fantastic global reputation for entertainment. From iconic music (need we even mention The Beatles!?) to endless Irish bars, karaoke clubs, and even a bustling Bierkeller venue, the city offers all-singing, all-dancing fun for St Patrick’s Day celebrators.

Boston, US

If you’re celebrating St Paddy’s Day away from Ireland or the UK, why not consider Boston, Massachusetts in the United States? According to South Boston Parade, Bostonians were actually the first to celebrate St Patrick’s Day in the whole of North America.

This has given them plenty of time to create one of the largest celebrations of Irish culture and heritage in the world. Offering everything from traditional Irish music and food to pubs crawls and cruises, you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Birmingham, UK

As one of the first cities in the UK to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Birmingham has held a dedicated parade for the event since 1952! A celebration of the city’s multiculturalism, their lively celebrations include Irish dance performances, Welsh and Chinese dragons, and Caribbean dancers.

The second-biggest city in the UK is also home to no end of welcoming pubs, clubs, and restaurants (including a Bierkeller venue!) where you can seek much-needed refreshments.
